Buy Travel Insurance - To Do Or Not Do It?

Zipping back and forth across the Tasman and into Asia appears sometimes, we never get out of the country with out Travel Insurance.

We always discussed the problem - can we avoid the risk of buying travel insurance or any other way we should be responsible and rage and buy - hitting always win. Then there are pamphlets and pour over the web these days the scene to see who has the best deal, because that's what we are after the best deal available.

Insurance is always conjured up images tall concrete skyscrapers actually owned by the 'Insurance Companies' financed by the humble contribution. This is called 'Peace of Mind' by some people, while others call it 'The White Mans Plague'. I want to be part of the last group but somehow I want to take control of my life I always joined the "Peace of Mind" group.

After so many years to buy and never use, that I must add, we were really lucky, 'Insurance Company' was certainly in doing here, I tried to refuse at our last trip. General plan when you go to the beach far is enjoying the new climate and culture and that you stay healthy, and you must work on this as the last thing you want is to end up in foreign hospitals outside the control of your life.

You do not want to lose luggage, digital cameras, notebook computers, etc. that we usually do not take anything valuable, but all of our lives on the computer all the family photos, I should imagine would really inconvenient to have to replace the tooth in a foreign country, although You have the occasional flash of throwing the whole wardrobe and a spark came out, it all becomes too hard and takes valuable time.

Last trip we made a calculated decision not to buy travel insurance and the next day the ABC television announced the sad story really an Australian man who went to India minus insurance, which no doubt he cursed the day he made that decision, she fell under the while walking down the bank and hurt himself so badly he was injured a paralyzed. Medical bills to date is $ 35,000 and I would bet is India is not the most expensive medical purposes in the world. To fly back to Australia that it will cost cool $ 250,000. A truly sad story, well presented on TV and lucky for her appeal to the Australian community and no doubt the airline. Funds quickly raised him to return to friends and family.

Then I remembered that my nephew horrendous time, contractors Malaria in Indonesia, he was aware hopped a plane to Kuala Lumpur and Hospital end up in there on life support and kidney dialysis. My brother fronted up every morning in the Administration to pay for day-to-day NZ $ 1000, which fortunately replaced by Insurance Companies. They can not improve it, bring a translator, providing accommodation, support people and constantly checked her and my niece progress.

Ah so this is how money is spent. I do not mind a bit that even though I prefer my nephew did not have horrible experiences. Fortunately the story has a happy ending, and despite all odds Iron Pip is now a woman participating in the competition and run a marathon, etc.

I digress - so quickly turned around, we were not able to walk or explore and enjoy the beaches are much knew that we could be a liability for our family. So the 'Peace of Mind' captivated the beautiful head once again and we did not dare to worry in this world know that if something happens we will take care of.

I highly recommend if you can not afford Travel Insurance - stay home - or lower your sights and aspirations and buy it, do the packing and eat McDonald's again - way to go, at least you go.
